We have 4 different choices: Agriculture, Health & Wellness, Information & Communication Technology (Comm Tech) and Manufacturing. Students are asked to come and put their name on an Application form in Student Services ASAP. If any questions, Ms. Baldwin (Durnin) is available to chat during Period 1 in the Science Office Rm 228.
A Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) allows students to specialize in an area they are considering for post-secondary by receiving relevant in-person training here at CHSS (ex. First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, pesticide safety certification, infection control training) all free of charge to the student. Co-op is a mandatory requirement but it can be done as a summer co-op in between Grade 11 and 12. See Student Services to sign up for a summer co-op. A SHSM is completed during Grade 11 and Grade 12 combined, before graduation.
Students will be added to the SHSM Google Classroom once the application form is completed. All the training offered to CHSS students will be posted there as it becomes available.
